Why are we organizing the Danube Region Social Innovation Summit?
With the summit we aim at providing a platform for knowledge-building, networking and exchange of ideas on the future of care in the Danube Region. The Danube Region Social Innovation Summit which will take place annually from 2024 onwards, will allow interested parties to become part of the Caring Communities knowledge and innovation community.

Caring Communities: What is the initiative about?
Living at home for as long as possible is a strong desire of many people who need care and support. The European Care Strategy (2022) shows that although different care stakeholders across Europe face similar challenges, solutions are usually developed at national and subnational level. The transnational initiative Caring Communities aims to improve the quality of life of people in need of care in rural and urban areas of the Danube Region. For this purpose, we aim to build innovation capacities and interregional cooperation structures between different public and private actors - supported by scientific monitoring. Caring Communities is implemented by 25 partners from nine countries in the Danube Region between January 2024 and June 2026, under the leadership of the German umbrella organisation Diakonie Baden. It is co-funded by the EU Interreg Danube Region Programme.
